As the world's largest archipelago with more than 17,000 islands and more than 300 distinct ethnic groups, Indonesia has been blessed with rich culinary diversity. Stretched along the equator line and surrounded by the volcanic mountains that contributes to the fertility of the soil, Indonesia is indeed blessed with its wide variety of beautiful Indonesia spices spread through the region. Spices are the key to various delicious, exotic, and tasty cuisines that would enhance our eating experience to a whole new level.

At “The Spice Journey”, I, Ayu, will introduce you to exotic spices from my home country and you will learn the art of combining spices and flavors to create a wonderful authentic taste.

We will cook together:

  1. Rendang (slow-cooked beef curry) which is originating from Sumatra Island – was crowned the best food in CNN’s Worlds 50 Best Foods.
  2. Tempeh, a superfood from Indonesia: you will learn how to cook this traditional fermented food perfectly with some simple spices. Delicious meat alternative for our meatless days.
  3. Gado-Gado: blanched vegetables with traditional peanut sauce.
  4. Mie Goreng (authentic Indonesian fried noodles): a signature dish of Indonesia and most likely to appear on any menu cards when you are in Indonesia.

We will enjoy our dinner together, share your stories about Indonesia (if you have been to), or get all the tips you want to hear from the local (if you plan to travel to Bali or other islands in Indonesia). Homemade dessert will be served at the end of your dinner. Our hands-on cooking class is designed for all skill levels of cooking enthusiast.

Enjoy your welcome drink, snacks and a relaxing evening cooking with people who share your passion for good food, fun, and cultural experience. You will go home with memorable experience.
