The weather is gradually heating up and we understand why you might be tempted to reach for something that will cool you down, but we have great news for those who miss the delicious taste of ramen when it is too hot to enjoy it. Hiyashi Chuka, a dish that is perfectly delicious for summer, is served at Ramen restaurants in Japan only during summer. The light and refreshing taste of this dish, on top of the coldness itself, make this the perfect food for hot days.

In this Japanese summer class, we will prepare dishes that have lots of vegetables and options for less meat. But the beauty of this style of cooking is that it can easily be modified for omnivores, vegetarians and vegans or just swap out an ingredient or two and even your family members / friends with dietary restrictions can enjoy. You will also learn about the secret of Japanese cuisine (umami) and the essential ingredients in Japanese cooking.

We will prepare together these summer favorites:

- Onigiri (Japanese rice balls, a perfect summer snack) with tuna or wakame (for vegetarian)

- Hiyashi Chuka (Cold Ramen Noodle Salad with / without Chashu)

- Chashu (Japanese braised pork)

- Kinshi Tamago: Japanese shredded egg crepe garnish/shredded omelette

- Goma (Japanese sesame salad dressing)

Our hands-on cooking class is designed for all skill levels of cooking enthusiast. Enjoy a relaxing evening cooking with people who share your passion for good food, fun, and cultural experience. You will go home with memorable experience.
