Do you know that more than half of spice in the world originated in Indonesia? Stretched along the equator line and surrounded by the volcanic mountains that contributes to the fertility of the soil, Indonesia is indeed blessed with its wide variety of beautiful spices spread through the region. Spices are the key to these various delicious, exotic, and tasty cuisines that would enhance our eating experience to a whole new level. Not only will they make your food taste delicious, but they also have exciting health benefits of their own!

I, Ayu (your Indonesian cooking instructor) will introduce you to exotic spices from my home country and you will learn the art of combining spices and flavours to create a wonderful authentic taste. We will cook together:

  1. Sate Lilit (Balinese minced meat satay wrapped around lemongrass sticks - rich in bumbu, a mixture of spices and herbs)
  2. Gado-Gado: Indonesian salad served with traditional peanut sauce (a perfect spring-summer dish)
  3. Tempeh, a superfood from Indonesia: you will learn how to cook this traditional fermented food perfectly with some simple spices. Delicious meat alternative for our meatless days. (Nowadays, tempeh is very easy to get in Swiss supermarkets)
  4. Mie Goreng (authentic Indonesian fried noodles): a signature dish of Indonesia and most likely to appear on any menu cards when you are in Indonesia.

Indonesian homemade dessert will be served at the end of your dinner.

Our hands-on cooking class is designed for all skill levels of cooking enthusiast. Enjoy your welcome drink, snacks and a relaxing evening cooking with people who share your passion for good food, fun, and cultural experience. You will go home with memorable experience.
